Seniors helping seniors — that is the whole idea
We are retired people in Cherokee County, and we spend our days with older neighbors who want to stay in their own home. It started because a few of us were restless after thirty or forty years of work, and because we kept watching friends and neighbors start to struggle in ways that were easy to miss.
What makes it work is that we are not strangers. We remember the same music, raised families on the same roads, and know exactly what it feels like to need a little help and to hate asking for it. So the visits do not feel like caregiving. They feel like company — and the help gets done along the way, almost without anyone noticing.
If you have been looking for a way to be useful again, that is what we are offering: a few hours of your week, spent with someone who will be genuinely glad to see you, and paid work rather than volunteering.

Flexible schedules that work for you
You tell us which days and hours suit your life — a few mornings a week, a standing afternoon, or more when you want it. You are not signing up to a shift pattern, and you can change it when things come up.
A valuable service in your community
You would be helping the people right around you — your own neighbors, in your own town. The kind of help that keeps someone in the home they love instead of somewhere they do not want to be.
For your own peers
The person you sit with remembers the same music, the same old Cherokee County, the same decades. That is the whole point of seniors helping seniors, and it is why the work does not feel like work.
