Seniors Helping Seniors, LLC · Cherokee County, Georgia

Caring seniors,
helping seniors.

We are retired people who were not finished being useful. We spend our days with older neighbors who would rather stay in their own home than anywhere else — keeping them company, driving them where they need to go, cooking with them, and making sure the little things get done.

“We are not nurses. We are neighbors who understand.”

Five kinds of help, all of them at home.

You can ask us for one of these or all five. There is no package to buy and nothing to sign up for — we work out what fits your family and go from there.

See all five in detail
  • Companionship

Someone their own age to sit and talk with.

  • Transportation

A safe ride and a steady arm, door to door.

  • Light housekeeping

Laundry, dishes, tidying — done together.

  • Meal preparation

Real meals cooked in their own kitchen.

  • Medication reminders

A gentle nudge at the right time.

  • And the small stuff

The mail, the phone, the errands that pile up.

We were retired. We got restless.

Most of us spent thirty or forty years working, raising families here in Cherokee County, and then found ourselves with more free time than we knew what to do with. We also watched friends and neighbors start to struggle — a husband who stopped driving, a widow who stopped cooking, a woman who had not had a real conversation in a week.

There are plenty of agencies that can send a stranger. What we offer is different: someone who remembers the same songs, who has raised children of their own, who knows what it feels like to need a little help and to hate asking for it. That common ground is the whole thing. It is why our visits don’t feel like caregiving. They feel like company.

We are caring seniors wanting to pay it forward.

More about who we are

What a visit actually looks like

Every family is different, so we do not hand you a brochure and a schedule. Here is what we do, and you tell us how much of it your loved one needs.

Getting started takes one phone call

There is no obligation and nothing to sign to have a conversation with us. Here is how it goes.

  1. 01

You call or send a note

Tell us about your mom, your dad, your husband or your neighbor — what they can still do easily and where they are starting to struggle.

  2. 02

    We come meet them

One of us comes by, no cost, just to sit and talk. Your loved one should get to decide whether they like us. That matters more than anything we write down.

  3. 03

    We start visiting

You pick the shape of it — an hour here and there, a set time each day, or the same afternoon every week. We can change it any time.

Not sure how much help they need yet? That is the most common call we get.

If you are the one worrying, this part is for you

Most of the people who call us are not the person who needs help. They are the daughter juggling a job and a drive across town, the husband who is doing his best and running out of steam, the son who lives three states away and calls every night.

You do not have to hand over your parent’s care to get some relief. You can start with a few afternoons a week. You can keep doing the appointments you want to do yourself and let us take the rest. And you will know exactly who is in the house with them, because you will have met them.

Are you a retired neighbor with time to give?

We are always looking for compassionate retirees in Cherokee County who want to earn extra income while paying it forward — flexible schedules that work for you, and the knowledge that you are providing a valuable service in your community and for your peers.

There is no license to hold and no shift to work. You tell us which days suit you, and you spend them with someone who will be genuinely glad to see you.

A discharge plan only works if it holds up on Tuesday afternoon, three weeks after the patient goes home. We are the piece that stays in place: a familiar face at the same time each week, someone who notices when the prescriptions were not refilled or the follow-up appointment was missed — and who tells the family.

We take referrals across Cherokee County, GA and nearby towns. Tell us what your patient needs and we will follow up with them or their family promptly.

Refer a client and we will take it from there

If you are placing someone back home and the plan needs to hold on a Tuesday afternoon three weeks later, that is exactly the gap we fill — company, rides, meals, light housekeeping and medication reminders from a caregiver their own age.

Questions families ask us first

If yours is not here, call us. We would rather answer it than have you guessing.

Tell us about your loved one

A short note is plenty to start. We will call you back, usually the same day, and there is no charge to talk it through.
